What are Somatics?
The word Soma literally means ‘body.’ Somatics are movement and body awareness practices that help you connect with physical sensations, regulate your nervous system and develop a deeper understanding of how you relate and experience the world.
Somatic practices aid healing, performance, personal growth, they release tension, build confidence and cultivate presence.
Techniques often include:
Breath work – regulating the nervous system through conscious breathing
Movement – exploring how the body holds tension and how to release it
Self-inquiry – bringing attention to sensation and emotional patterns
Mind-body integration – reconnecting with natural movement and expression
Why This Work Matters
Most of us adapt to protect ourselves from re experiencing discomfort, shame or self-doubt. These protective behaviours may have served us but they also hold us back from fully expressing who we really are.
By understanding how our nervous system responds to stress and by practicing techniques to self regulate we can step into a more confident, connected, creative version of ourselves AND take inspired action to move our dreams forward.
